Here's to movie nights with projectors and the scent of citronella. To wearing colourful dresses under the sun at flea markets. To creativity, the love and passion that it brings.
Patterned Dresses - April brought my first Zara love. I rarely obsess over pieces at Zara or Topshop, but when I saw a particular multi-patterned paisley dress in Zara, things changed. The first day that I wore it, I was waiting for a friend outside of a store on my motorbike and a man driving past cheered at me, "So much color!" As the Summer approaches, color becomes important to me. Big dresses have become a staple for me, being able to sit comfortably is important. I also thrifted two dresses, though not colored they are long and incredibly comfy.
Silver Necklaces - For my birthday this month, my family gave me a silver box with a set of earrings, a chain and two pendants. I haven't taken the dragon pendant off.
Perfume - April smells like Marc Jacobs' Daisy and rose water. A family friend gave me Daisy which smells as sweet as it looks. I've also found this small jar of rose water perfume that I bought at a market a while ago.
History of The Eagles - I watched this with Sorcha recently while we ate take-out gnocchi and rhubarb meringue and fell in love (again) with The Eagles. It's quite long but worthwhile.
Annihilation - Alex Garland's 2018 film, Annihilation was beautifully shot, well casted and really messes with your mind.
Classic Disney Films - As we get older, we forget about some of the classics. I rewatched The Lion King and 101 Dalmations recently. Age definitely provides a different perspective when it comes to watching iconic childhood films.
Create - I finished creating one short film this month, and then created another soon after. The first film, Pause, was super fun to make and you can check it out on my YouTube.
Picnic/Gardens - For a few scenes in the second film, we shot at the botanical gardens in Hanoi (3 Hoàng Hoa Thám) and had a picnic while we were there. It was beautiful and if you have a garden or park nearby, take your friends and some food on a nice day!
Flea Markets - There was a communal market across from my house recently and I had been waiting for a moment to empty out my wardrobe. Though I didn't sell a whole lot, it was a fun day with food and good people. I bought a great dress for 50k ($2.50) and Citronella oil. Flea markets are great ways to meet people in your community.
Projectors - Projecting films on your bedroom wall with friends is always fun. It's the only way that I have been watching things since I got my hands on a projector and I would definitely recommend it. They're not too expensive, any cheap one will do the job.
Essential Oils - During March, I had an art exhibition in which I used unwanted books from the library. In there were a few that I kept, aromatherapy and herb books in particular. Another family friend gave me Ylang-Ylang oil for my birthday and I bought Citronella oil at the flea market.
